The Irish jockey Michael O'Sullivan has died at the age of 24 after a severe racing accident, reports RTÉ.
It was during a steeplechase in Tipperary last Thursday when O'Sullivan fell and ended up under a pile of horses at the last hurdle.
He was taken to the intensive care unit at a hospital in Cork where he was put into a coma, but died of his injuries on Sunday morning.
Darragh O'Loughlin, CEO of the Irish horse racing organization IHRB, describes O'Sullivan as "an exceptionally talented young rider".
"Michael will be deeply missed by everyone in horse sports who had the pleasure of getting to know him", he says in a statement.
