Joakim Lagergren won on Sicily in 2018, but will have to wait for his second win on the European Tour – now DP World Tour – in his career.
The 33-year-old Stockholm native was two strokes behind the leader Connor Syme before Sunday's conclusion on the course outside Amsterdam, but never really managed to put pressure on the shots.
He had several putts on the edge of the hole during the round, but at least managed to finish with a tasty eagle on the last hole for a stroke under par for the day. With –9 overall, he was two strokes behind the winner Syme.
Just like earlier in the week, the challenging weather conditions with strong winds and rain – with occasional showers on Sunday – made it difficult.
Now, Lagergren's debut in the US Open is waiting for him next week. In May, the 33-year-old managed to qualify for the major tournament on Oakmont Country Club outside Pittsburgh, USA. Lagergren and world number eight Ludvig Åberg are the only Swedes qualified for the tournament.
