Last year, Norén won the PGA Championship - the flagship event on the European Tour in golf - for the second time in his career after a dramatic playoff.
The 44-year-old veteran was in top form even before the final round of the year, but his 69 strokes (-3) were only enough for a shared 15th place at -12 overall.
Ludvig Åberg was one stroke better than his compatriot going into Sunday, but the 26-year-old could not get his game going. He came in with 72 strokes (par) and finished in a tied 15th place at -10.
The best Swede was instead Joakim Lagergren, who was in a shared lead after the first round of the major competition. Just like on Thursday, he went six strokes under par and with a total of -13, the 34-year-old finished tied for 27th.
American JJ Spaun (-17) took home the winner's check of 15 million kronor.
