The decision on the new law was made by the Supreme Court in the United Kingdom, after a several year-long struggle by Scottish feminist activists. In the judgment, it is claimed that "inconsistent" definitions of gender can harm women's rights.

"It took three extraordinary, persistent Scottish women with an army behind them to get this case tried by the Supreme Court, and by winning, they have protected women's and girls' rights across the United Kingdom", Rowling writes on social media, according to Newsweek.

In recent years, Rowling has often expressed herself in a way that many perceive as transphobic. She herself believes that she is misunderstood and that her agenda is to defend women's rights and safety.
