Jimmy Thelin has been fired from his coaching job at Scottish club Aberdeen.

"Recently, the efforts have clearly been below the level we expect," the football club writes on its website.

Thelin joined Aberdeen from Elfsborg in the early summer of 2024. He had a dream start to his new coaching job, but the team then slipped in the league, finishing fifth. The big highlight of the 47-year-old Thelin's time at Aberdeen was the Scottish Cup title, which the club had not won in 35 years.

This season, Aberdeen is eighth in the Scottish league.
