Tomorrow, national team coach Michael Apelgren will announce the first squad of the season, for the European Championship qualifiers in early November.
But one of Sweden’s best players of the past decade, Jim Gottfridsson, will be missing, according to the newspaper’s sources.
Gottfridsson made an unexpected club move this summer, returning to his former club IFK Ystad in Sweden’s second division after being sacked by Hungarian side Pick Szeged.
Gottfridsson then made clear that he still aims to earn a place in the national team, with the goal of ending his international career after the 2028 Olympics.
Sweden begins the European Championship qualifiers at home against Greece, followed by an away match against Luxembourg.
