”Against the background of the increasing anti-Semitism in Sweden and internationally, a performance by Kneecap at Way out west would send a serious signal that anti-Semitism is something one tolerates”, it says among other things in the letter.
The band has several times expressed itself politically at their performances and the 27-year-old singer Liam O'Hanna is prosecuted for terrorist crimes after among other things having shown a Hizbollah flag at a concert in London in November last year.
The Jewish Central Council is critical of Kneecap using their concerts to express support for terrorist organizations.
”These elements have ignited audience members who have shouted coarse anti-Semitic slogans, something that creates a directly threatening and excluding environment for festival visitors with Jewish or Israeli background”, they write.
