Jair Bolsonaro is being celebrated in an upcoming biographical film titled “Dark Horse,” directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh and written by Mário Frias, who was Bolsonaro’s culture minister. Filming began in Brazil three months ago and the film is expected to be completed in 2026. Bolsonaro’s son Carlos confirmed the film by sharing a photo of Caviezel dressed as his father in a post on X.
In September 2025, the far-right former president Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison for trying to stage a coup after losing the 2022 election.
The film appears to depict Bolsonaro's 2018 presidential campaign and highlight his military background, while also revisiting his previous controversial statements.
Jim Caviezel has in recent years profiled himself as part of Christian Hollywood and the conservative right, including by participating in Q-Anon-affiliated events in connection with the film “Sound of Freedom.” He is also an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, whom he has called “the new Moses.”
