The Spanish golf star Garcia was in the stands during the match and was zoomed in when Alcaraz in the stadium interview got questions about whether it will be relaxation with golf when he now has two days off before the semifinal.
A hundred percent. It has become a routine, I do it when I'm off duty, he says in Eurosport's broadcast.
On the question of how many strokes he needs in handicap to have a chance, he says with a laugh:
We'll discuss it tomorrow, but somewhere around 10-15 strokes. I'm not that good Sergio, come on!
Pursuing sixth victory
Alcaraz is pursuing his sixth Grand Slam title in his career and his third Grand Slam final for the year.
The 22-year-old world number two from Spain won earlier this year the French Championships for the second year in a row after a classic final against world number one Jannik Sinner, Italy.
Then Sinner took revenge on the grass in Wimbledon where he final-defeated the Spaniard.
In the semifinal, Alcaraz will face the winner of tonight's quarterfinal between Novak Djokovic, Serbia and Taylor Fritz, USA.
Djokovic knocked out Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of this year's opening Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open.
Pegula to semifinal
American Jessica Pegula, 31, is thriving in the US Open. Last year she was in the final and now she is semifinal-ready.
On Tuesday, she won the quarterfinal against Barbora Krejcikova, the Czech Republic, with 6-3, 6-3 and has once again reached far on Flushing Meadows.
In the other three Grand Slam tournaments, the world number four has never made it further than the quarterfinals.
Now it may be a replay of last year's final already in the semifinals. If Aryna Sabalenka wins tonight's quarterfinal over Marketa Vondrousova, it will be the world number one from Belarus who awaits Pegula.
Sabalenka won last year's final, but Pegula has not yet lost a set in this year's US Open.
