Jesper Svensson played the last nine holes on Saturday in 28 strokes – and quickly and merrily mixed himself into the tight battle in the PGA tour event in Houston, Texas. The Swede lies sixth ahead of the final round.

Jesper Svensson had gotten a mediocre start to the third round, when he suddenly flashed four straight birdies. Then came two straight pars before he finished with an eagle and birdie on the last two holes.

It became 63 strokes (–7) on the round, something only Svensson and leading Australian Min Woo Lee managed.

Svensson – eleven in total – has six strokes up to Min Woo Lee, but only two up to Argentine Alejandro Tosti in second place.

One stroke ahead of the 29-year-old Uppsala golfer is also a trio, including American world number one Scottie Scheffler.

Jesper Svensson has at best finished tenth during his debut season on the PGA tour.
