Ice hockey star Jesper Fast, 33, is retiring after eleven seasons in the NHL. Instead, he may get a role in HV71's management.

"I never took for granted getting to play in the world's best league. I'm grateful to all teammates, leaders, and fans in Rangers and Hurricanes who made my time in the NHL so special", says Fast in a press release.

It is his body that is putting a stop to Fast. He missed the entire past season with Carolina because of a neck injury.

Fast played a total of 703 NHL matches and scored 248 points (91 goals). In the playoffs, he accounted for 27 points in 80 matches.

Between 2017 and 2020, he was the assistant team captain in New York Rangers.

Fast is proposed for a seat on HV71's board ahead of the club's annual meeting on June 21. Fast played four seasons in the Jönköping club before taking the step up to the NHL and New York Rangers in 2013.
