After a fourth-place finish in the short-track race at the Mountain Bike World Championships earlier this week, Jenny Rissveds aimed to defend her world title when the Olympic distance race was decided in Val di Sole.
But the Swede fell far behind immediately after a bike problem, which meant that her chances of a podium finish were gone. The 32-year-old, who has two Olympic medals to her name, gold in 2016 and bronze in 2024, finished seventh.
Switzerland came out on top. Sina Frei was dominant, leading from start to finish to take the gold. Her compatriot Nicole Koller took bronze and the silver went to Italy's Martina Berta.
