Ahead of today's World Cup race in Lake Placid in New York state, USA, it was clear that Rissveds didn't need to do much more than finish to secure overall victory in the XCO World Cup.

And she made it to the finish line - Rissveds finished 11th in the race. Even though her rival for the overall World Cup, Switzerland's Sina Frei, won the race, Rissveds did what was required and is now 75 points behind Frei in the overall standings.

The level is incredibly high right now and just compared with last year, it's going much faster and the races are much tighter, says Rissveds.

No Swede has ever won the overall World Cup in mountain biking before, several media outlets report.

Rissveds' previous best finishes in the overall World Cup are second place (2025) and third place (2021). She has won both Olympic and World Cup gold in the event.
