The film is called "Die my love" and is directed by Lynne Ramsey. Lawrence and Robert Pattinson play a young newlywed couple where the birth of the child gets the woman to sink into deep depression and he seems unable to help her. "I had just had my first child and it was really hard to distinguish what I would have done differently from what she did," says Lawrence when she meets the press in Cannes.
Jennifer Lawrence describes childbirth as an extremely isolating event.
"It's so interesting. This woman moves to Montana, she has no community, she has no family. But the fact is that extreme anxiety and depression isolate you wherever you are. You feel like an alien," she says.
Become more creative
The film was shot when Jennifer Lawrence was pregnant with her second child.
"I was in my fifth month. Having a child changes everything. It changes your entire life. It's brutal and it's incredible. It affects every decision I take. Should I work? Where should I work? When should I work? I didn't know I could feel so much and my job still has a lot to do with feelings," she says.
Jennifer Lawrence means that parenthood has changed her life for the better and has affected her creativity.
"If you want to become an actress, I strongly that you have children," she says.
"You should be naked"
"Die my love" contains several hot sex scenes.
"The day before we were going to start filming, Lynne showed me and Robert a scene from the film "If....". It showed two characters attacking each other like tigers. And Lynne said 'this is how you should do it, and you should be naked'.
"And we said 'oh, okay'. And it was the first day of filming."
"Die my love" competes in Cannes. The film has not yet received a Swedish distribution.
