Vance is likely referring to the verdict for incitement against an ethnic group against Salwan Najem earlier in February and the murder of his companion Salwan Momika, who was shot dead in his home in Södertälje a few days earlier.

The statement comes during a speech at the ongoing security conference in German Munich, where the Vice President directs broader criticism at Europe and European security.

The threat I am most concerned about regarding Europe is not Russia, China, or any other external actor. What I am concerned about is the threat from within, that Europe is backing away from some of its most fundamental values, values that it shares with the USA, says Vance.

Sweden's Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) tells TV4 News that politicians should refrain from reviewing independent courts.

I note that Sweden has a very far-reaching freedom of expression. He referred to a verdict recently decided by the district court. As a Swedish politician, I do not review independent courts, and I think that politicians in other countries should also refrain from doing so, says Malmer Stenergard to the TV channel.
