In addition to the couples who have already married, the app has led to another 760 couples being in “serious relationships,” according to government figures. In June this year, the app had 16,000 members.

Tokyo Enmusubi was launched by the Japanese government in 2024. The dating app was intended to help address the country's low birth rate. To become a member, proof of being single and an online interview are required.

671,236 children were born in 2025 in Japan, a new record low.
