A Chinese fishing vessel has been seized in Japan's exclusive economic zone. The captain has been arrested.
The captain was ordered to stop the ship but then tried to flee the scene, according to a statement from the Japanese Fisheries Agency.
Relations between the two countries have become increasingly frosty. In November, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi angered China by suggesting that Japan would intervene militarily if Beijing tried to take Taiwan by force.
