On Thursday, world number two Carlos Alcaraz announced that he plans to play in the US Open after a four-month injury absence. However, the Spaniard will not face rival Sinner. The Italian has problems with his right knee and will miss the final Grand Slam of the year.
"Although I have worked hard with my team and medical staff, we have now been forced to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete in the US Open this year," the tennis star wrote.
The US Open starts on August 30.
