Actress and singer Jane Birkin is being honored by Paris – the city she lived in for much of her life – which is naming a footbridge after her.

The pedestrian bridge spans the Saint Martin Canal in central Paris and the nameplate was inaugurated with a ceremony on Saturday.

Among the guests was Birkin's daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg, also an actress and singer.

She would have loved it, Gainsbourg said at the opening.

Jane Birkin made her way to Paris from London in the 1960s. She had a huge breakthrough in 1969 with the duet "Je t'aime … moi non plus", with her then-partner Serge Gainsbourg.

On the big screen, she has appeared in films such as "Death on the Nile" and "The Beautiful Satmaran".

Jane Birkin passed away at her home in Paris in 2023, she was 76 years old.
