He revealed this during his first stand-up performance since falling ill in 2023, writes Deadline. Until now, it has been a secret what actually happened to him when he was rushed to the hospital during a film shoot. Only that he had suffered from "medical complications" was disclosed.
But now Jamie Foxx reveals that he got a headache, and shortly after lost consciousness. For the following 20 days, he has no memory, but he was operated on in Atlanta for the brain hemorrhage that led to a stroke.
When I finally woke up, I was sitting in a wheelchair and couldn't walk, says Foxx, who joked about his convalescence during the performance.
If I can continue being funny, I can continue being alive, said the comedian.
Foxx, born 1967 as Eric Marlon Bishop in Terrell, Texas, was a stand-up comedian before breaking through in the musical comedy "In living color" in 1990. He is most known for the title role in the film "Ray" from 2004, which earned him an Oscar for best male lead.
