Last round, James Milner equalled former footballer Gareth Barry's record for the number of appearances in the English top flight, 653.
By starting for Brighton on Saturday, the 40-year-old has now surpassed Barry and is the sole record holder with 654 appearances.
Milner played until the 90th minute, when he was substituted after suffering a concussion.
In addition to Brighton, Milner has played for Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League, among others.

Brighton won the match against Brentford 2–0 after goals from Diego Gomez and Danny Welbeck.
Yasin Ayari was injured and was not in Brighton's squad.
