Norway has announced its squad for the European Championships in August.
Two of the 56 Norwegian athletes named are the brothers Jakob and Filip Ingebrigtsen. The brothers will face each other, both selected to compete in the 5,000 metres on the opening night of the championships.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen makes his season debut at the European Championships. The 25-year-old has not competed since the World Championships in Tokyo in 2025 due to injury. Ingebrigtsen underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon in February. He has won gold in both the 5,000 metres and 1,500 metres at three European Championships in a row, but this year it will only be the former distance.
Filip Ingebrigtsen qualified for the European Championships through the world rankings and is now aiming for his first international championship final in seven years.
The European Championships in Birmingham will take place from August 10-16.
