It was in the podcast Sporthuset that he told in 2021 about how the performance anxiety before the summer games was about to destroy him.

He could wake up in the middle of the night with pressure over his chest, difficulties breathing, and nausea.

After the Olympic Games, Berglund chose to take time to recover and was back on major competitions in 2022 when the Diamond League gala was held at Stockholm Stadium.

I got a little "flashback" before. It was a year since I felt worst, here at the gala, he said after finishing seventh on the 1,500-meter.

In 2023, he did four competitions on 10 km road and this year he completed significantly more races, including 800 meters and 3,000 meters.

But in 2025, there will be no competition races.

Berglund writes on Instagram that he is retiring from professional running.

"To all my friends, family, competitors, teammates, coaches, physiotherapists, sponsors, athletics clubs, and everyone else who has been part of this journey, thank you so much", he writes on Instagram.

The European Championship silver on 1,500 meters in Belgrade 2017, indoors, was Kalle Berglund's greatest achievement. Previously, he had held the Swedish record on the distance.
