"We are not a party to this agreement. It does not protect our security." Itamar Ben-Gvir, Minister of Internal Security, wrote on social media.
The reaction is the first from the Israeli government. Ben-Gvir wrote that Israeli forces should not be withdrawn from Lebanon at all.
According to the US and Iran, Lebanon is covered by the new agreement, which Israel has opposed in past agreements.
According to a report in the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear to the United States that Israeli forces will hold their positions in southern Lebanon and act when necessary.
