What: European Championship, semifinal, England–Italy.
When: Tuesday at 21.00.
Where: Stade de Genève, Genève.
TV/radio: Viaplay and Radiosporten.
+ First time in 28 years.
Italy is in the European Championship semifinal for the first time in 28 years after Cristiana Girelli's double goal against Norway where the winning goal came on a header in the last minute. The success comes just three years after women's football was made professional in Italy with free salaries and social safety net. "We do this for our success, but there is a deeper meaning where we show that in Italy, women can also play football", says Girelli, the 35-year-old team captain from Juventus.
+ Bronze can be worth gold.
England was on its way out against Sweden when defender Lucy Bronze, Chelsea, first initiated the comeback with her equalizing header and then bombed in the penalty goal that completed the turnaround when Smilla Holmberg then missed.
Bronze became England's oldest European Championship goalscorer with her 33 years and 262 days. Team captain Leah Williamson is a question mark ahead of the semifinal as she was substituted out injured in the extension against Sweden.
