The agreement was about to be automatically renewed, but that will not happen, Meloni said, according to ANSA.
"Due to the current situation, the government has decided to cancel the automatic renewal of the defense agreement with Israel," she said during a visit to a wine fair in Verona.
The agreement was signed in 2016 and involves cooperation on military equipment and research. It needs to be renewed every five years.
Israel summoned Italy's ambassador to Israel last week, after Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani visited the Lebanese capital Beirut and condemned Israel's bombings targeting civilians there as completely unacceptable.
