Italy has sent back 49 migrants to Albania who tried to enter the country.

In two previous instances, the measures, which are considered controversial, were stopped, but this time the individuals were taken to two specially built asylum and migration centers in Tirana.

Italy has earmarked the equivalent of 650 million euro for the operation. Together, they will be able to receive 3,000 migrants per month who have tried to enter Italy via the sea route.
