Israel, in turn, said earlier in the day that attacks had been directed against suspected Hezbollah targets near the border between Lebanon and Israel.

In recent days, the Israeli military has carried out targeted attacks, including with drones, against targets in Lebanon, despite a ceasefire prevailing since November 27. Israel claims that the operations are being carried out against individuals within the Islamist Hezbollah movement, among other things to prevent it from mobilizing.

Rocket fire against targets in Israel has also occurred recently, and the Lebanese military said on Wednesday that several people with links to the terrorist-stamped Hamas had been arrested – and were suspected of having fired rockets at Israel.
