Around 40 settlers entered a closed military zone in the village of Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah, on Saturday evening, where they, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, threw stones and assaulted soldiers from Israel's military (IDF), as well as punctured tires on several military vehicles.

The soldiers are reported to have fired warning shots and used tear gas to control the situation. Six settlers were arrested in connection with the attack.

The incident occurs after a violent week in the Palestinian village.

Earlier in the week, settlers set fire to houses and cars in Kafr Malik and threw stones at the residents. In connection with Israeli soldiers entering the village, three Palestinians were killed and seven were injured. The soldiers claim they were attacked. Five settlers were arrested for the attack but released the next morning. A few hours later, settlers again attacked Kafr Malik and the neighboring village of Turmus Ayya, where they set fire to crops and tried to enter houses.

According to Palestinian authorities, at least 941 Palestinians have been killed by soldiers and settlers in the West Bank since October 2023, while the world's focus has been on Gaza.
