Israeli commercial aircraft have now been evacuated from Ben Gurion, the country's only major international airport. All regular flights from the airport have been cancelled.

Aircraft belonging to, among others, El Al, Arkia and Israir have left the country as part of an existing emergency plan.

The planes have been flown to various airports in Europe.

The Israeli government plane, called "Wing of Zion", has also left Israeli territory for safer ground in Athens.
