Israeli opposition parties reaffirm pledge to oust Netanyahu, but path remains uncertain

Israel’s opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot says the country’s four opposition parties still stand by their pledge to remove Benjamin Netanyahu from power - but the path to doing so through parliament remains uncertain.

The statement on the opposition’s position on Netanyahu and the Likud party in government negotiations came after Israel’s four Jewish opposition parties met on Tuesday in Herzliya, just north of Tel Aviv.

“The party leaders are united and will act immediately to replace the government that was in power on October 7,” the opposition said in a statement, according to Times of Israel.

The parties also said they did not intend to cooperate with any party that did not recognize Israel as a Jewish state or condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization.

Israel’s two Arab parties together won 19 of the 120 seats in the Knesset.
