Civilians will be sent south, to a humanitarian zone without Hamas and terrorism, and from there they will start leaving the area on a large scale to other countries, says Smotrich.
Israel has previously used the concept of "humanitarian zone" about areas in Gaza that the civilian population has been forced to. These zones have since been bombed on several occasions.
Smotrich, who belongs to the extreme settler right, has repeatedly during his time in Netanyahu's government advocated for ethnic cleansing. He has also hinted that it would be justified to let two million Gazans starve in order to free Israeli hostages from the Hamas-controlled area.
