The commander of the Israeli army (IDF) has ordered an investigation into the attack, in which five journalists were killed in a grenade attack on the hospital.

In a first statement, it is said that the involved Golanibrigade "discovered a camera placed by Hamas in the Nasser hospital area and that the camera was used to monitor the activities of the IDF forces - and to direct terrorist acts against them", reports the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

The IDF claims that intelligence reports show that Hamas has used the Nasser hospital to carry out terrorist acts since the beginning of the war in Gaza.

The IDF chief demands that the investigation examine the decision-making process for the attack on the hospital, as well as specify the timeline and ammunition used in the attack.

In the statement, it is also said that six of the 20 killed were "terrorists" and that one of them participated in the terrorist-stamped Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

At the same time, the army chief "regrets" that civilians were affected.
