"A few days ago, I demanded that the military intervene to remove the monuments commemorating terrorists in the murderers' villages of Madama and Burin. Unfortunately, they remained. So I went there myself and took matters into my own hands to have them removed," Zvi Sukkot writes on Facebook.
The incident occurred as Israeli soldiers were escorting Sukkot in the area. The army says it is taking the matter extremely seriously.
The monument in the Palestinian village of Madama, according to a local leader, honours those killed in battles in 1968, during the first and second intifadas, and until today.
Violence in the West Bank has escalated since Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which marked the start of the Gaza war.
