The foreign minister wrote, according to the AFP news agency, that he was breaking off contact "until she withdraws the blood accusation."
According to information provided to the news site Euractiv, at a meeting in Mexico, Kallas is said to have compared Israel's treatment of Palestinians to racial segregation in apartheid-era South Africa.
She herself does not want to go into any details about what was said, but says only that the EU's official position is what has been officially stated.
"I will not comment on everything that was said or not said behind closed doors. Let's stick to the statements I make," Kallas says on her way to Thursday's EU summit in Brussels.
