The 15 member states of the UN Security Council will vote on Monday to support the US peace plan for the war in the Gaza Strip, diplomats with insight told the AFP news agency.
Unlike previous versions, the latest draft mentions the possibility of forming a Palestinian state.
The shift on the issue of a Palestinian state is causing concern among Israeli officials, who see several risks with the latest draft, I24 reports, citing sources.
Among other things, the Israeli side does not want to see continued reconstruction of Gaza before Hamas has been disarmed - which Israel doubts that an international peacekeeping force will be able to do, the television channel reports.
The concern about the formulation of a Palestinian state is confirmed by the country's Defense Minister Israel Katz, who wrote on X on Sunday that "Israel's line is clear: A Palestinian state will not be established."
At the same time, several of the countries that have promised to participate in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip are demanding that the resolution state a Palestinian state as one of the goals of the operation in Gaza.
