55 Dead in Gaza as Israel Warns of Larger Offensive

At least 55 people are reported to have been killed in Israeli air raids on Gaza on Thursday. Israel's army chief Eyal Zamir is simultaneously threatening with a larger Israeli offensive becoming relevant if terrorist-stamped Hamas does not release the hostages.

The warning came in connection with Eyal Zamir's visit to Israeli soldiers in Gaza. He urges Hamas to release the hostages taken during the terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023.

If we do not see any progress in the return of the hostages in the near future, we will expand our efforts to a larger and more significant operation, he says.

Family with children killed

Among the fatalities in today's attacks is a family with children. The family's four children and their parents were all killed when their residence in Gaza City was attacked, according to rescue personnel and the area's civil defense.

Nine more people were killed and several were injured in an air attack on a former police station in the Jabalia area in the north, according to hospital reports. In another attack in the same city, twelve people were killed.

The Israeli military, IDF, reports that it has struck a Hamas command center in Jabalia.

In other areas of Gaza, 28 people were killed in a series of attacks, including several in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, according to the civil defense.

Evacuation order

Israel has ordered Palestinians in two areas in northern Gaza to evacuate their homes on Thursday afternoon ahead of a planned attack.

"To all civilians on the Gaza Strip who live in the areas of Beit Hanoun and Sheikh Zayed. This is a temporary and final warning … move immediately west towards Gaza City", says the IDF's Arabic-speaking spokesperson on X.

Since Israel resumed its military operations in Gaza in mid-March, at least 1,978 people have been killed, according to the Hamas-controlled health department. A total of more than 51,355 people have been reported killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the Hamas-led terrorist attack in October 2023.
