At least five people were killed in Beirut, according to Lebanon's Health Department on Monday evening. The attack was directed at the Zuqaq al-Blat area, and according to the department, around 20 people were injured.
The attack was carried out with a drone against a residential building located near a Shia Muslim prayer site. The target of the drone attack is a few hundred meters from the places attacked by the Israeli military over the weekend.
Near the UN
The UN headquarters in Lebanon is also located near the site of Monday's attack.
The Zuqaq al-Blat district has received many internally displaced persons in Lebanon, both from other parts of Beirut and from conflict zones in southern and eastern Lebanon.
Israel has not commented on the attack, and according to local sources, the Israeli military did not warn of the attack.
Witnesses said that two explosions were heard and that the presence of rescue personnel was significant. The national news agency NNA reported that two rockets were fired at the building.
Tel Aviv attacked
The Health Authority in Lebanon estimates that more than 3,400 people have been killed in Lebanon over the past year in the conflict with Israel, of which 80 percent of the deaths have occurred in the past two months.
On Monday, Israel was also attacked by rocket fire. At least three people were injured in a suburb of Tel Aviv by falling rockets that were shot down by Israeli air defense. Air raid sirens sounded over several cities in central Israel during the evening.
A woman in northern Israel was killed in the early evening when a rocket hit a residential building in Shefa-Amr.
