The organization IPC stated on Friday that fully developed famine prevails in parts of war-torn Gaza. The assessment applies, among other things, to Gaza City and its surroundings, writes IPC, which monitors food availability in the world.
The assessment is very unusual. It follows strict scientific requirements and has only been established a few times before in IPC's history.
But Israel questions the conclusion.
Israel demands that IPC (Integrated food security phase classification initiative) immediately withdraw the fabricated report, said the Israeli Foreign Ministry's head of office Eden Bar Tal at a press conference.
He said that Israel will share "evidence" of malfeasance when the report was prepared with the countries that are contributors to IPC, if the organization does not withdraw the report. He also accused IPC of being politicized and that the organization "acted for evil terrorist organizations".
The conclusion of the report has received support from, among others, the UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk.
