TV companies in, among other countries, the Netherlands, Spain, and Ireland, have threatened to boycott the Eurovision Song Contest if Israel is allowed to participate, with reference to the war in Gaza.
But now, the Israeli public service channel KAN announces that the contestant from Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest will be selected in the reality series "The next star", reports Expressen with reference to Israeli Ynet News.
Israel is making the announcement despite the fact that it is currently unclear whether the country will be allowed to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. In November, the EBU's 68 member companies will vote on whether Israel will be allowed to participate in the competition.
If Israel is not allowed to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest, "The next star" will award the winner an additional prize.
