Nazmi Muhanna, head of the Palestinian border authority, states that Israel has informed of the decision which means a closure from Wednesday and until further notice, reports the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Israeli army radio reports that they have asked Prime Minister Netanyahu's office whether the closure has a connection to the recent wave of international recognition of a Palestinian state, but have not received an answer, reports The Times of Israel.
The border crossing was open to passengers, but has been closed to humanitarian aid shipments since an armed truck driver attacked Israeli border guards last week.
