The Israeli military has published a new map with a prominent “security zone” extending about a mile into Lebanese territory.
A military spokesman said Israel will continue to eliminate threats to Israeli soldiers and civilians even if the threats are identified beyond the zone's border.
The Shiite militia Hezbollah said in a statement on Thursday that fighting was ongoing in areas near the city of Nabatieh and that "an Israeli force attempted to advance from the city of Arnoun."
Lebanon's state news agency NNA reported an Israeli drone attack on a car in the same region, saying two people were killed in the raid.
Lebanese media reported another death.
The fighting continued despite a US-Iranian agreement that requires Israeli forces to withdraw from Lebanon. Israel insists its forces will remain in Lebanon.
The new border demarcation Israel is indicating extends a little further into Lebanon than previous versions, the Lebanese newspaper L'Orient Le Jour notes.
The fighting in the area is reported to have subsided, but deadly clashes and attacks are still taking place.
