Cogat claims that the decision "will have no impact on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip," the Times of Israel writes.
The border crossing, the only crossing from Gaza that does not face Israel, was closed in May 2024 when Israeli forces invaded the area. In February this year, it was partially reopened, with only a small number of people in need of medical care allowed to pass.
Other uses, such as aid and goods shipments, are prohibited by Israel from using the crossing.
