The man has been identified as “a key terrorist within the Quds Force’s operational unit” and is accused of being involved in terrorist plots against Israel from Lebanon and Syria, according to the military.
Quds is a special force within the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
In addition, a “Hezbollah terrorist” was killed in an area near Majdal Selm in southern Lebanon, according to the Israeli military.
An Israeli attack on the border with Syria killed two people in northeastern Lebanon, the Lebanese Health Ministry said. The attack was carried out in the Hermel district.
A third person was killed by Israeli forces in Majdal Selm in southern Lebanon, Lebanese authorities later announced.
Despite the ceasefire between Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israel, Israeli forces remain in five areas of Lebanon. More than 340 people have been killed by Israel in Lebanon since the ceasefire came into effect in November 2024, according to AFP calculations.
