The announcement comes from Defense Minister Israel Katz, who warns that Gazans will pay "a heavy price" if Israeli forces are harmed.
The heightened alert is based on intelligence that Hamas intends to “attempt to carry out attacks and terrorist acts” against Israeli soldiers stationed in the Gaza Strip on the anniversary.
"If our forces - God forbid - are harmed, Hamas and the people of Gaza will pay a high price - a completely disproportionate price," Katz said in a statement.
