In the attack on March 23, at least 15 Palestinian healthcare and rescue workers were killed when their vehicle was shot at in southern Gaza. Eight worked for the Red Crescent, six for the Palestinian civil defense, and one for the UN's Palestine agency Unrwa.
It wasn't until a week later that the bodies could be retrieved. According to the UN agency Ocha, they were buried in the sand, still wearing their uniforms, after being "shot dead one by one".
The Israeli military's spokesperson Nadav Shoshani states in a statement that the "incident" will now be investigated, writes AFP.
