Israeli forces have fired at a gathering of Palestinians waiting to receive humanitarian aid, according to Gaza's Hamas-controlled civil defense on Sunday.
Currently, 44 people have been killed and dozens injured after Israeli forces opened fire on civilians waiting for aid, says civil defense spokesperson Mahmud Bassal.
The Israeli military has not commented on the reports.
On Sunday, the Israeli military issued an evacuation order for parts of central Gaza.
The military "continues to operate with great force to destroy the enemy's capacity and terrorist infrastructure in the area", writes spokesperson Avichay Adraee on X.
This is the first time the military is planning ground operations in Dayr al-Balah, according to The Times of Israel.
Residents are urged to head south towards the al-Mawasi area.
Meanwhile, talks about a ceasefire between Israel and terrorist-designated Hamas in Qatar continue, but according to the mediators, no breakthroughs have been reached.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said that Israel will be able to pressure Hamas to negotiate by the military increasing its military efforts in Gaza.
The war began with terrorist-designated Hamas' coordinated terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023.
