Israel has taken a large area of land on the occupied West Bank, says an Israeli organization that critically examines settlements.
The organization Peace Now says on Wednesday that Israeli authorities have approved a seizure of 12.7 square kilometers of land in the Jordan Valley. It is the largest area Israel has taken in 30 years, according to Peace Now.
Large parts of the international community consider the settlements to be illegal. Since the war between Israel and the terrorist-stamped Hamas in Gaza broke out in October last year, the violence on the West Bank has also escalated.
During an Israeli attack on a refugee camp on the West Bank on Tuesday evening, four people were killed, according to the Palestinian authorities there.
According to Israel's military, the attack was directed against a militant group that placed explosives in the Nur Shams refugee camp, which is located near the city of Tulkarm in the northern part of the West Bank.
Over 550 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the West Bank since the war broke out in October last year, according to Palestinian authorities.
