Israel's military (IDF) announced on Thursday evening that ground forces have been deployed in Rafah in southern Gaza.
"In the past few hours, IDF forces have carried out operations on the ground in the Shabura area" in Rafah, IDF said in a statement, adding that a ground offensive is simultaneously being carried out in central and northern Gaza.
Israel claims that the operations have "succeeded in stopping terrorist infrastructure". The information on Thursday evening has not been able to be verified by independent sources.
