The remains were handed over by the terrorist group Hamas on Thursday. According to Israel's forensic examination, the body belongs to a 73-year-old man who was killed during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
The return is part of a US-brokered ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. Hamas has agreed to hand over 28 of the hostages, and so far 24 have been returned. In exchange, Israel has released 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and returned the remains of hundreds of dead Palestinians.
